Philosophy
TRACS
is a Co-ed Adventure Based Outdoor Recreational Program. Our goal is to
develop better World Citizens who are confidentt in the great outdoors.
Under strong leadership, careful supervision and constant encouragement,
students will safely learn skills on rivers, rocks, summits and in the
sea. Students will experience new cultures and customs, new foods and
frontiers.
We take small groups
of teenagers on new experiences and challenging adventures; we practice
challenge by choice. We hope to instill lifelong values, create lasting
friendships and produce better world citizens who are comfortable in the
outdoors and have love and respect for our natural environment on a
global level.
Cultural exchange
begins the moment students step off the plane at their destination. All
of our Trip Leaders have been through extensive
training and
have had
practical
|
experience at Camp Carolina. In
addition our staff are either natives to the countries we have chosen to
visit or have extensive travel experiences in the lands that we travel.
This is key. Students will immediately begin to learn history, language,
geography and local customs, while sharing American culture with the
local communities we meet along the way.
Identity
TRACS
is a division of Camp Carolina and is owned and operated by
the Thompson Family. We have been leading and facilitating trips into
the wilderness for over 80 years. Our locations have been researched and
visited on numerous occasions to assure a smooth and exciting trip. Our
staff come with impeccable references, resumes, and professional outdoor
experience. |
Our Staff
Our staff are the key to our
participants success. We travel the planet in search of the finest role
models, the most skilled instructors, and staff with the highest degree
of moral character and maturity. All Trip Leaders have had practical
experience working for Camp Carolina. In addition they have been
chosen for their knowledge of the areas they are venturing into, their
reliability, trustworthiness, character, and leadership. They have also
undergone medical training, holding at least a Wilderness First
Responder Certification. Our Trip Leaders are professionals! They work
as educators, professional outdoor guides, or instructors year round.
