In-Camp Staff

I am Abuzaid Dawood from Ghana and I am enthusiastic about camping. I have had the opportunity to participate in camping many times and I cannot stop repeating when there is the chance because of the excitement and the fact that every camping experience is different. As the saying goes "when the song is nice, the DJ plays it twice!".
Career-wise, I am currently training to become a business analyst and I have had the opportunity to work in different roles in four international organizations including as a Team Leader for International Citizen Service UK. I have a great sense of responsibility with excellent cross-cultural working competencies. I will be part of the Camp Carolina team as a Counselor for this summer’s camp.
I love to take time off and enjoy the beauty of doing activities that interest me. I find this summer camp a great opportunity to make the camping experience a memorable one for the young campers and I bring with me good team organization and team bonding skills, plus my good sportsmanship.

What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?:

I come from a less privileged community where kids did not have the chance to realize their dreams even if they were the most talented. I have seen many of my childhood friends drop out due to inadequate support from parents or the community. I count myself among the few lucky ones. I have had the opportunity to be educated and have worked with many organizations both local and international. I have therefore dedicated myself to making an impact in my community by engaging in a lot of social activities and programs that aim at uplifting people and helping people realize their potential. I see my biggest achievement to be the way I have set a good example in my community with many young people looking up to me. I had young people discussing issues with me and they see me as someone they can learn from. I am most proud of that.
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?:

I love to watch basketball/ NBA. I am a fan of the Memphis Grizzlies team and I play soccer as well.
What is your favorite thing about working with children?:

What excites me about children is their energy and their eagerness to try new things.
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?:

I look forward to creating a good team bonding among the campers to enable them to come out of their shells and also guide them to channel their energy and adventure to discover their talents. Campers' safety will be my priority.
What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?:

Teamwork. Everyone is good at something, it is up to team members to realize what each member is good at and position them in a way to yield the maximum benefit to the entire team. It is good to win by yourself but helping others to also be part of the winning gives you some inner satisfaction and gratitude from your fellows. Teamwork gives team members the chance to learn from each other and also realize their own weaknesses and strengths. You end up improving on your weakness and sharpening your strength to become your talent. Camping helps the campers to live away from the disruption of social media and enables them to focus on themselves. Summer camp is a time for self-discovery.
