Evan Zendler

Hi! My name is Evan, and I am honored to be working at camp this year. I am from Marquette Michigan which is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan right on the coast of Lake Superior. I am studying environmental sciences at Northern Michigan University, and I am hoping to use the knowledge I gain to make a positive impact on the world in whatever way I can.

What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?:

I am very proud that I have taught myself how to play the guitar, ukulele, and banjo. I am far from mastery for any of these instruments, but I am proud that I have learned so much by my own efforts.
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?:

My favorite thing to do is to explore the nature that surrounds my university. Whether that means mountain biking through the endless trail systems, climbing up waterfalls, hiking through the dense upper peninsula forests, or kayaking on rivers that lead to the open waters of Lake Superior. There is always an adventure to be found.
What is your favorite thing about working with children?:

Kids seem to always have so much energy and such light hearts. Working with children can be very refreshing and enlightening because children can teach me some things just by them being kids.
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?:

I am excited to help the campers have a better understanding and appreciation for nature. I also hope to help them become more well-rounded and confident humans by encouraging them to do something they otherwise thought they could not achieve.
What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?:

I would like my campers to appreciate the simplicity of life, develop self-reliance, and have respect for each other and the natural environment. I believe that all these traits and knowledge are key to a happy and fruitful life.
