Mackenzie Bourke

In-Camp Staff

Hey! My name's Mackenzie, I'm 21 and from Adelaide Australia. I like to describe myself as a mixed skittles packet, I love a variety of things in life and pride myself on being proud of who I am. I love anything outdoors, arts and crafts, and have a healthy obsession with board games. To say my life revolves around sports would be an understatement. I've worked in sports for the past 3 years, recently working for the Adelaide Giants (a Professional Baseball team in Australia) where we won the Championship for the first time in 43 years. I play Softball, Baseball and Australia Rules Footy, however, you can catch me watching all kinds of sports. I'm excited to share my knowledge in Yoga and Woodwork at camp this summer and can't wait to get started!

What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?:

My biggest achievement in life so far would be moving across the world to America when I was 18 to work as an Au Pair. It was a challenge moving away from my friends and family at a young age, however, I learned so much about myself during this experience.
I am most proud of the fact that I truly live by the quote 'Everything happens for a reason'. Everything I do in life is because I love it, when you love what you do you'll never work a day in your life. I can honestly say this is the best way to describe my life!
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?:

I am a very adventurous person and enjoy anything that involves the outdoors. I currently play Softball, Baseball and Aussie Rules Footy. I love a bit of competition, most evident during board games nights.
What is your favorite thing about working with children?:

I love being a positive influence and role model for young children. Playing a small part in shaping their future is something that I really enjoy. Seeing them succeed and thrive is extremely rewarding and a responsibility I don't take lightly.
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?:

I am excited to positively impact the camper's lives by providing them with an unforgettable summer at camp. Being a positive role model and showing the importance of living your life to the fullest. I hope to build strong relationships with the campers and staff.
What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?:

I hope to inspire the campers to fill their lives with activities and experiences they enjoy. Understand the importance of enjoying your life and making it your own. You only live once, why not fill it with everything you enjoy!
