Hi everyone, my name is Ethan, I am 19 years old, I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I spent the past year interning as a Dive Master and have just completed and qualified as a PADI Open Water Instructor, as well as an Emergency First Response Instructor.
In my spare time when I'm not in the ocean or with friends and family, I'll take myself off or drag friends with me to go out hiking in the mountains around where I live, exploring new places and finding amazing little gems of sunset and picnic spots. I love being around people and making sure everyone is enjoying themselves. I am very easy going but I also know when and how to be firm in a soft way.
I am so excited to get over to camp and meet everyone, and for us all to have the most amazing time.
What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?: I'd say my biggest achievement so far is getting my Open Water Instructors which I have been working towards since I was 16. I have always been in love with the ocean and found immense joy in helping and teaching people. This way (although just a start) I can introduce people to the wonders of the underwater world and make them more aware of the environment and our impact on it.
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?: It’s tough for me to choose just one as I have so many different interests. I'd say outside of Scuba, I love being creative and painting or flow dancing, but I also love being more active and being outside hiking, exploring, swimming/freediving in the ocean or fire dancing (poi and staff).
What is your favorite thing about working with children?: My favorite thing about working with children is watching them learn and grow in a positive and beautiful way and knowing that I contributed to this person’s life for the better.
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?: I am really looking forward to sharing my passion and enthusiasm for the natural world, as well as for creating a safe environment, not only for the campers but for everyone that I might cross paths with.
What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?: Don't worry! Let go and be yourself! I want the kids to learn in a safe, fun and warm environment how awesome and amazing they are, to be happy with who they are and not feel like they have to put up a front or pretend. For them to be 100% themselves.
