Hi! My name is Loren and I'll be apart of the Photography and Film team this year at Camp Carolina. I'm 21 years old from England UK, currently studying a degree in Marine and Natural History Photography in a small town called Falmouth, Cornwall. I'm a very chatty, bubbly person who is ready to completely throw myself into camp and all the adventures it has to offer!
How many years have you worked at CCB?: This year will be my first year at CCB
What is your must bring item to CCB?: The latest book I am reading, as it is the perfect way to relax!
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?: My favourite thing to do during my spare time is to explore, even if it is just a stroll through the woodlands taking in every tiny little detail about my surrounding! Of course this is most of the time, accompanied my favourite thing to do all the time, SING. I have sang my entire life with the influence of my sister and mom. So to sing in nature, is the ultimate pass time!
What are you famous for?: If you ask any of my friends, they'll tell you I'm known for knowing everyone. I love to talk, and from this i have met so many interesting and amazing people and have made a lot friends! As Falmouth is a really small town, i am able to walk from one end of the shopping street to the other and bump into about 5 people i know, which I love. However, my friends will say it means it takes us three times longer to get to our destination!
What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?: I know it sounds quite silly, but at the age of 19 i was still very much scared of swimming in open water, i hated the idea of my feet not being about to touch the sea floor. However, in April last year, just before my 20th birthday, i went on a trip with my university course to the Galapagos Islands and decided then was the time to overcome my fear. With this motivation, I swam with sharks, snorkelled with sea lions and swam in between two tectonic plates! All these experiences built up my confidence and destroyed my fear. I now live for the water, any chance i get i want to be in the sea whether that's swimming, kayaking or my newest ambition; learning to surf. I have become the water baby i always wanted to be!
What are you most looking forward to about CCB?: Being able to immerse myself in a completely new culture and environment! I can't wait to meet all the children and capture so many happy moments with my camera as well as being apart of it!
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?: Bringing the children as much joy from nature as it brings me!
What is your favorite quote?: "Be the change you want to see in the world" - Gandhi
