My first name is Samuel. Most people call me Sam and I currently live in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica.
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?: Pretty much anything that has to do with being in nature. I spend a lot of time fishing, hiking, swimming, and birdwatching. On the weekends, I'll typically go to the beach and camp with my friends or build bonfires.
What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?: I would say my biggest achievement has been the completion of the first draft of my 440 page fiction novel, titled "The Afghan Alamo". It was a surreal experience to write my own novel and took nearly a month and a half of 3,000 words a day (the total being 111,000). I was able to watch the world in my head be put on paper and it had a grip on me that told me it was undeniably a passion of mine.
What are you most looking forward to about CCB?: I am most looking forward to the feeling of finally returning to my home away from home. Growing up I always felt that camp was simply a part of life, and when I was forced to take a break due to school last year I felt like a large chunk of my summer was missing.
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?: I am most excited to help campers find the same feeling of joy, adventure, freedom, and brotherhood that I remember so dearly from my years at camp. I will never forget the feelings, stories, and bonds that I created with campers and counselors alike, and I look forward to doing the same for my campers.
What is your favorite quote?: "It is a kind of privilege to be insulated from the essentials of survival, but also a kind of hardship." - Unknown
