Guillaume Mervillie

In-Camp Staff

Hi everyone! My name is GG!
Many of you still remember me from previous years as your counselor or head counselor.
This will be my 4th year here at CCB and I can't wait to meet all of you or to see you back!
For people who don't know me yet, let me introduce myself.
My full name is Guillaume, but GG is the name I go by.
I'm from Belgium and I'm 29 years old.
I'm a sports coach and sports teacher.
I love to travel, be enthusiastic, be funny or silly and absolutely love to dress in flashy clothes (especially socks for the ons who still remember).
I know we'll have another amazing summer together and I can't wait to get to know all of you!
See you soon you True Gentlemen!

What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?:

All my travels and all the places abroad I've worked. All connected with sports and kids.
I've been/worked in Finland, Crete, America, Australia and many other places. I'm also proud to have my 2 Bachelor Degrees (Sports and Leisure Management & Teacher).
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?:

In my personal time, I love doing my workouts. Bodyweight classes, workouts with weights, stretching, boxing, dynamic yoga, ... I do this every day to keep my body and mind focused and in a healthy condition. I do this with the team that works with Chris Hemsworth (Thor).
I also like a challenge. So everywhere I travel and work I like to teach a new sport. In Finland I did ice skating and ice hockey; in Crete I did watergym, stretching and beachvolleyball and in America (at CCB) I did ARF and rafting.
I also like to read books (mystery, thriller, fantasy).
What is your favorite thing about working with children?:

I love the input you get from kids. There is so much to learn from them, and certainly when I work with kids in other countries. It's amazing to learn new things and cultures through their eyes and through the connection with them.
So not only do I have an impact on their lives, they also have a big impact on mine.
Working with kids also makes me happy, cause I'm still a big kid inside (even when I'm already 29).
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?: A lasting impact! I know how all the kids look up to us counselors and I want to be an even bigger example then I have been in my previous 3 years.
As a Head Counselor, I was the one who started the Pup Tribe, so that's an experience that will last in CCB history. I hope I can do it all over again and be even better than before.
What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?:

I want the kids to understand how beautiful life can be when you get rid of all the technology we have in today's world. You can learn new skills, make lifelong friendships, open up and you can have the best and happiest moments in your life!
Also being a True Gentleman can make your life easier and will open so many doors for you down the road. Easy lessons are most of the time the best ones!
