Blair Marsden

In-Camp Staff

Hey there! My name is Blair, I’m 21 years old and I’m from Western Australia. This will be my first year at Camp Carolina. I am super excited to meet everyone and to get in on some fun.
I have recently obtained my Cert IV in community services and youth work. I have taken a gap year to further my knowledge and experience to then go back later and continue with my studies.
What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?:
I am most proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and applying for summer camp. This is my first time leaving Australia solo. Also with finishing my Cert IV in community services and youth work. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity as it will help me to kickstart my career in working with children.
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?:
I fill my time by being outside and appreciating nature. I love walking, swimming, dancing, camping and doing yoga. I have the dream of travelling the world. I love going on an adventure to visit somewhere new that’s close by or going somewhere on the other side of the world.
What is your favorite thing about working with children?:
You get the privilege of seeing them grow and change into their true selves and into someone who they’ve learned to love. Knowing that you have made a contribution on how they now view life and different things is so rewarding. Watching them laugh, gain confidence, having fun and making friends makes everything worth it.
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?:
I want to be a role model. Someone they trust and lookup to while at camp. Making a safe, comfortable and fun environment for everyone. When they think back on memories about camp I want to be a positive contributing factor.
What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?:
I want the campers to get out of their comfort zones and try new things. To teach them that no one is great at something the first time they do it. You just need to practice; stay and think positive; and to believe in yourself. If you do this- anything is possible. Also going with this, getting them out in nature, teaching/showing them the simplicity of life. Letting go and just living in the moment. Making sure they get the best out of camp and not worrying about what’s going on around them in the real world.
