Kitchen Staff

Hello Camp Carolina, I’m Rodrigo, but you can call me Roy, and I’m from Puebla, Mexico. Honestly, I’m very excited to be part of the Camp Carolina team, as this will be my first time working at a camp. I love learning new things, and I know this is a special opportunity to do so, as well as to meet many people, both staff members and campers, and to share pleasant moments that I’m sure will be memorable.
What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?:
Honestly, I could consider being able to go work in another country for the first time as a great achievement, one that I feel proud of for being able to do this on my own and knowing that it will have a great impact on me as a person.
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?:
I have a great appreciation for art and drawing since I’ve loved drawing my favorite characters ever since I was little. I also used to watch my brother draw, which inspired me to keep drawing and learning so I could be like him. I also really enjoy playing sports, especially volleyball, since it’s the one I practiced the most when I was younger, and now I just play from time to time to stay active.
What is your favorite thing about working with children?:
What interests me most about working with children is the way I learn a lot from them, just as they learn from me. Knowing that I can be part of a positive impact on their childhood inspires me to set a good example for them.
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?:
What I would most like to achieve this year is to build good relationships with others and create memorable moments while discovering and learning. I also want to make the most of this experience in the kitchen and improve my culinary skills.
What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?:
I consider respect to be a very important value that is always necessary. It’s important to understand that it doesn’t only apply to other people but also to animals and other living beings. Additionally, having empathy for the situations others are going through is essential. Teaching children these values from a young age will make a big difference throughout their lives.
