In-Camp Staff

Hi, I’m Tom. I’ll be turning 19 while at camp and live in Oxford, England. After finishing school in July 2024, I decided to take a Gap Year before starting University this coming September and already I’ve found it so enjoyable and rewarding. I’m a keen all-round sportsman but primarily love tennis and football. I cannot wait for my first summer at Camp Carolina, which will hopefully not be my last!
What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?:
Hiking and camping coast-to-coast (approx 270km) across Costa Rica over two weeks with Raleigh International. It was an incredibly tough challenge, both mentally and physically, however it highlighted the importance of resilience when times get tough, something I hope to share with campers this summer!
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?:
I enjoy playing and watching a wide variety of sport; from football, golf and tennis to F1 and even the darts! I enjoy listing to music, attending concerts across the world with family and friends. Finally, I absolutely love travelling, spending time in the sunshine and experiencing different cultures.
What is your favorite thing about working with children?:
It’s rewarding to see how much their enthusiasm and positivity can influence other campers and staff alike.
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?:
I would like to encourage the campers to try new things whilst growing in confidence and realising how much they can do when they get involved in all camp has to offer!
What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?:
This summer, I want campers to step out of their comfort zones and form real, face-to-face connections away from many of the distractions of modern life. By taking on challenges together—whether on the sports field or around the campfire—they’ll learn the values of resilience, mutual respect, and the fun and strength that comes from community.
