Camp Carolina 2020 Summer Sessions Cancelled

May 29, 2020

We want to thank you for your patience and kind words of encouragement which you have given to us throughout this unprecedented and difficult time. It is hard to put into words just how much this has meant to us. Please know that over the last few months we have spent countless hours researching and discussing how to run camp and keep our camp community safe.  With the well-being of our camp community as our top priority, it is with heavy hearts that we have made the difficult decision to cancel all of our regular sessions for summer 2020.

In reviewing the guidance we were provided by the local, state and federal government we explored every possible avenue to be able to provide the Camp Carolina experience we all know and love. We were concerned with just how many changes we would have to make to keep everyone safe. No trips out of camp, limited in camp activities, no putting our arms around each other at campfire, no handshakes and no tribal chants or camaraderie in the dining hall were just a few examples of all that we would have had to sacrifice. The challenges we faced, especially considering the unpredictable nature of the coronavirus, social distancing requirements, and unreliable testing currently available are obstacles too great to overcome to open by June 28th.

We want to reassure our families that we are committed to working with you to make the best decision for your family in regards to your payments. We humbly ask our families to consider rolling over your 2020 tuition payments to summer 2021 to help us as we financially navigate operating for two years off of one season's income.

To review your different financial options and complete our current form, login to your Camp In Touch account. Scroll down to Forms & Documents and click on the "Summer Cancellation Options Form" to select the option of how you would like to proceed with your 2020 payment.  Please complete this form by June 15th. Click HERE to access Camp In Touch.

We will be opening summer 2021 registration in the coming days and will be holding spots until July 15th for our 2020 enrolled families who choose to rollover their payments to 2021. Please review our 2021 Dates and Rates HERE.

We are currently offering Family Camp for families to experience a little taste of Camp Carolina this summer to help you enjoy camp and help us stay the course of what we love to do -- run camp. Please click HERE if you are interested in learning more!

We know this is disappointing news and know that you are as sad as we are that we will not be spending our summer together at the Best Place on Earth. We do know that our Camp Carolina boys are resilient, selfless, and thoughtful when faced with difficult times and that together, we can all look towards summer 2021 with enthusiasm and excitement! Although we cannot currently shake each other's hands and look each other in the eye we encourage you to reach out to your camp friends in the spirit of the True Gentleman.

What a Day!!! Boy are we Enthusiastic about Summer 2021!

April 7, 2020 - Father/Son Weekend

While we are excitedly preparing for summer 2020, we have also been putting much thought into how to best proceed forward with our May programs in a way that supports Camp Carolina’s stringent health and safety requirements and philosophy of always demonstrating selflessness towards others. After much thought and discussion, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone Father & Son Weekends 1, 2 and 3. We know you will be as disappointed as we are.

We have worked hard to provide you with the following options and hoping that one of these will suit your family best:

Option 1 - Transfer all Father & Son Weekend payments to your summer camp tuition, if you have a balance due.

Option 2 - Transfer all Father & Son Weekend payments to a May 2021 Father & Son Weekend. We will be running 3 Father & Son Weekends -- May 6th-9th, May 13th-16th, and May 20th-23rd. The rate you paid this year will be the same for 2021.

Option 3 - Move to our Fall Father & Son Weekend scheduled for August 14th - August 16th (Friday - Sunday). Our Fall Father & Son Weekend will be 1 day shorter than our May Father & Son Weekends so you will receive a refund of $90.00 or each child and $150 for each adult if choosing this option (the weekend will not include a full day rafting; all other programming will be the same).

Option 4 - Donate your Father & Son Weekend payments to the Nath Thompson Scholarship fund which helps fund camp for families that cannot afford it. Upon your donation you will receive 4 tickets to Raise a Ruckus which will be held August 21st-23rd 2020 (Friday - Sunday). Raise a Ruckus is a family friendly music benefit with great bands, activities, accommodation, and food at Camp Carolina. Find out more about this fantastic weekend HERE.

Option 5 - Receive a full refund for your Father & Son Weekend payments. Please email Robin McCain at office@campcarolina.com with how you would like to proceed.

We are closely monitoring the CDC, local, state and Federal governments and health departments for their advice in regards to programming and summer camp beyond our May programs. Our top priority will always be the health and safety of our campers, their families, and our staff. We are working tirelessly to prepare for a safe and enthusiastic summer at Camp Carolina.
