In-Camp Staff

My name is Henry and I am from Lexington, South Carolina. I enjoy music as a hobby and extracurricular for school. I participate in my chamber orchestra at my high school and I also proficiently play 5 instruments including the guitar, double bass, electric bass, drums, and the ukulele. I also have played club soccer for the last 10 years of my life and have been playing high school soccer for the last 4. I have two younger brothers who attend camp like I did when I was their age. I have been coming to Camp Carolina since I was in 7th grade and I haven't stopped coming back since. I will study pre-med in college and I hope to one day become a pediatrician.

What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?

I won my state championship for my division and age group and moved on to nationals for club soccer. I won 4th in my state in competition for my HOSA club (Future healthcare professionals of America)

What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?

I enjoy playing and sometimes writing music on an assortment of instruments. I also love to play soccer and have for most of my life.

What is your favorite thing about working with children?

I find it so rewarding and fulfilling to know that I made a positive impact on a younger person's life. Kids are so much fun to be around. it is so worth it in the end to have a kid say "Woah Henry is your counselor, you're so lucky." Especially in a situation like CCB where I was once a camper I know exactly what it means to have a good counselor at that age.

What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?

I hope to show the campers especially first-year campers the amazing place CCB is and the amazing opportunity they have by getting to go to camp there. Overall teaching them to become true gentlemen and guiding them to become better people.

What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?
I strongly believe that compassion for one another is one of the greatest healers out there. Having empathy and the mindset of thinking "How can I help" is what leads to a productive and happy lifestyle with a sense of fulfillment knowing you did help that person who was struggling.
