Hi, I'm Michael.
I'm from Blackpool, England. I have two older brothers and I am currently employed at a local cafe as a barista. I hope to become a firefighter in the future. I spend most of my time at the cafe or playing football with my friends but I also make an effort to go on daily walks with my dog and brother and help around the house.
Throughout my life, I have been involved in many different sports and activities. such as football, Taekwondo, swimming, tennis, cooking, walking and camping. In some of these activities, I have earned gold medals and rewards through competitions and sporting events which I have attended. I have also attended charity groups such as my school charity group and attended charity events such as swimming marathons earning money for charities and efforts helping people around the world.
Through these things I have done I have picked up many life skills that I use daily and that I will continue to use in camp and I hope I can pass these skills on to the campers attending Camp Carolina.
What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?:
I have had many achievements that I am proud of but at the top of the list is the gold medal I earned through a taekwondo sparring competition where I became an adult, Middleweight gold medalist. Another achievement that I am extremely proud of is an engineering competition I won on behalf of my high school alongside 3 other teammates where we won £10,000 for our school. What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?:
My favorite hobbies are football, cooking, and going to the gym. I also love going to football games with my family at Bolton Wanderers FC and spending time with my friends. What is your favorite thing about working with children?:
Watching them progress, learn new skills, and improve on skills that they already have. working with kids is also really fun! as it can be a laugh and nothing has to be too serious and everyone can focus on having fun. What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?:
Hopefully, I will be able to teach people new skills and make everyone feel comfortable and happy to be there. And most importantly excited to learn and to wake up knowing they have a fun day ahead of them. While ensuring they are in a safe and supportive environment. What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?:
I want campers to learn that "there are no failures"; there are just opportunities to learn. This is one of my philosophies and I think it has improved me. For example, in the 2 years before I obtained my gold medal in Taekwondo, I earnt bronze and silver. I feel that I persevered and learnt from each defeat.
