Son Dropped off at CamP, Now What?

Opening day has come and gone, your son has settled into his cabin, started making friends and is currently at the welcoming lunch sitting with his cabin mates and counselors learning the Camp Carolina way of life and ready to hit the ground running for the best summer yet. You're heading back down Lambs Creek Road into one of the most beautiful and entertaining regions of North America. Why not stay and experience it for a day or two?

The closest local town is Brevard. Main Street has several boutique shops and great local restaurants for Brunch/Lunch after opening day. A must do (and your son will agree) is go for an ice-cream at Dolly’s Dairy Bar which is at the gateway to Pisgah Forest.

If it’s adventure and wilderness that you are seeking then the hiking in Dupont and Pisgah Forest is 2nd to none. A short 2 hour hike will take you to 3 amazing waterfalls in Dupont, including Triple, Hooker and High Falls. All offer amazing views. Grab a map at one of the local outdoor stores and get exploring!  And remember the world-renowned Blue Ridge Parkway is a short 30min scenic drive up through Pisgah Forest and offers breath-taking views that will be remembered for a life time… Why not stop at Camp Carolina favorite spot “Sliding Rock” along the way and go for a refreshing dip in the cool mountain water?

If you venture to the city of Asheville, prepare to have your taste buds blown away! Asheville promotes local “farm to restaurant” dining support local farmers and local markets making the food incredibly fresh and great quality.
