Veggie Patches, Organic Meals and Going Green

A few months ago we had the exciting news that we would be starting up an organic veggie garden to provide our campers with fresh and delicious local produce. Read the original blog  here

Since then the veggies have flourished under John Stroms and the maintenance teams watchful eye and we have been enjoying delicious meals. We currently have Cabbage, Kale, Beans, Tomatoes, Basil, Eggplant, Zuchini, Cucumbers, Radishes, Carrots, Beets and Lettuce being harvested and enjoyed in our kitchen. Alfred has been up at the kitchen every few days whipping up a delicious vegan meal the campers can enjoy!

Camp Carolina focuses on being “green” where at all possible and encourage the campers to follow the same principles. If that is recycling soda cans on cabin day, placing scrap paper or cardboard in seperate bins in various activities or something as simple as helping pick up a piece of trash around camp- it is appreciated and the campers receive kudos from their counselors.

We look forward to more delicious meals shared with our campers arriving for main and third session as well as ensuring we keep Camp Carolina as the best place on Earth!
